Visit Begur

Begur is a lovely little town to visit, located about a 20-minute drive from Llafranc. It is small, and a good part of the town is pedestrianized. With roots dating back to prehistory and Iberian times, it boasts many well-preserved Catalan-style houses, 5 defense towers, and the Begur Castle. Moreover, you can explore the remains of the culture of the Indians, including their houses. The term “Indians” refers to citizens from Begur who traveled to the Americas (mainly to Cuba) and later returned to Begur.

Its pedestrian streets seamlessly blend Indian houses with charming boutiques (although compact, not necessarily budget-friendly) offering fashion and crafts. The town is also home to a variety of restaurants (see our recommendations).

During the first weekend of September, the Indians Fair (Fira dels Indians) is organized. This event combines craft stalls with numerous mojito and other beverage stands, along with evening musical concerts. Attendees often dress in white (though other colors are perfectly acceptable—you won’t be kicked out of town!).
