On the 1st of May each year (Labour Day holiday), the fishermen of Llafranc offer a free popular ‘sardinada’ (a tip is usually left, whoever wants to). They are very good sardines, grilled on the beach (more or less in front of the Hotel Llafranc), with garlic and parsley, and very well-cooked, accompanied by a little wine in a ‘porron’. A luxury! Don’t tell anyone! Ideally, when it doesn’t fall on a weekend, as there are fewer people.
They usually start early in the morning, so if you dare, it is best not to arrive later than 10:00 am.
